Little pleasures mean so much. Sunshine, family, and a lazy day have given me a smile on my face today. It made me wonder what are the little things that make you smile. We spend lots of energy in a day focused on our struggles, on the things that aren't working or the people that have made us feel bad. How often do we focus on the little things that make us smile? My day today started with my hubby bringing me a pot of coffee to share in bed. It gave us a chance to shoot the breeze before our day kicked in. I prepared a huge cooked breakfast for my hubby and son, then my son and I whizzed off to my sisters. The sun was shining, we chose the scenic route and played our favourite tunes on the ipod. We arrived, my son played with my nephews and I got in a couple of hours chat with my sister before we took the children to the park. I can't think of one moment today where I haven't smiled. Now if I'd chosen to focus on the things that hadn't worked so well (washing my hubbys trousers with £50 in the pocket being one) my day would have had a tinge of disappointment and everything would have been coloured by an air of ill will. Children would have been too loud, the journey would have been too long, all in all it would have been yuk! So I challenge you...tomorrow spend the day spotting the things that make you smile, give you a warm glow, or just feel good...I guarantee by the end of the day you'll be glad to be YOU :) |
