Veganism, a path to self discovery

My husband an I were having an interesting discussion this morning about a few people we know that are vegetarian with little or no knowledge of the nutrients their bodies need and have merely replaced the meat in their diets with pretend versions.

It made me wonder whether when you decide that your interested in something you dive straight in or you spend time researching the subject.

I always describe myself as a dive in feet first type of gal. And if you look at my life and the interesting choices I have made you would probably agree. I have had some amazing experiences from travelling to Belize in Central America to finding the man of my dreams.

However when it comes to the basics of life, my food, my spirituality and my core beliefs I like to read and absorb as much information as possible. For example, at the moment I'm toying with the idea of Veganism. The idea has been around for a while, I can't do Vegetariansm as I'm allergic to dairy products and it would limit my nutrients too much, but the Vegan diet fascinates me.

I started by reading Kathy Frestons book "Quantum Wellness"and then her new book "Veganist", both of which fired my imagination. This then lead me to Alicia Silverstones The Kind Diet, and her website The Kind Life. We eat vegan about once or twice a week at the moment however I want us to expand on that and have some exciting recipes to do it with and so my investigation and research continues.

When I stopped to think about it this morning it made me realise that I am more of a thinking gal than I thought I was, maybe as I've gotten older I've started to learn that somethings in life are worth taking time over, and how fascinating the process of learning can be.

So which do you do, feet first or head? I think you'll be as surprised as I was if you think about it.
