My lesson this week for my 5 to 11 year olds is about the Bee who helped with a case of hayfever. Props for this class are very easy, a beautiful flower for each child to colour in The final prop is a jar of local honey. The story is based on theory that eating local honey can help combat hayfever. I always do a mini plan of positions and a basic story for classes, like the one below. They don't have to be too detailed as I like the children to come up with ideas of what could be happening next in the story. Sitting in
a field Bee buzzing
around, jump around swotting air Start
sneezing Go to get
honey Lie down
and relax My final bit of preparation is the music, I like to pick a few instrumental tracks, some classical, some just fun. With this particular class I will probably pick Flight of the Bumblebee . Great fun watching all the kids racing around with bees on their fingers going from flower to flower. Exciting stuff :) |
