Yesterday I posted a Status update on a Social Networking Site, hoping for a little support or some advise, be careful what you wish comes to mind. My question was about socialising my 10 year old who is Home Schooled, I seem to have been chasing my tail recently trying to find groups and activities he can join.
The first response I got was :- "You could just send him to school like the rest
of his peers, you asked for this comment, sorry if it's not what you
want to hear, none of us live in an ideal world, but
nevertheless it is the world we live in, we can still pass on our ideals
whilst conforming to an imperfect norm". At first I was livid, yet again I was being slammed for my choice to Home School, but after I'd calmed down my reply to this was "I'm not willing to settle" This morning I composed a longer reply, read the updates on my News Feed page and read an article in Home Education Magazine which totally supported my point of view. I was doubting my ability to Home School adequately, my friend provided the kick up the bum I needed to reevaluate my beliefs and to realise that I'm doing the right thing for the right reasons. I then had the realisation confirmed by the article all new and shiny on my News Feed. Go Universe :D |
