Reading a recent edition of Oprah Magazine today I realised how lucky I am. The main article seems to be all about De-cluttering your life. I realised that I really don't need to do this. In my life so far I have rented houses, owned houses, lived in tiny rooms and huge 6 bedroomed country estates. I have moved a total of 9 times in 10 years and finally I'm settled. I live in a very small two bedroomed flat with my new husband and my son. We have no garden and definitely no room to swing a proverbial cat, but we're happy. Over all the moves I have had I've gradually pared down my belongings to the things that mean the most to me. Occasionally when the sun is high and the air is just right I miss being able to amble out into my own garden, but I live on the edge of an amazing country park called Aylestone Meadows where my son swims in the river and the amount of wildlife you can see is breathtaking. I live walking distance from the city centre and we can saunter into the city for fantastic evenings out with our friends. I am surrounded by abundance, community and friendship. I have achieved what I set out to do a year ago when I moved back to Leicester, my adopted hometown, my goal was to be happy with less. Less money and possessions, I have achieved this. We live a full, happy and satisfying life in the middle of all the things that help us shine. I feel truly Blessed and truly Thankful. |
