Out With the New In With the Old

Last night I realised I'm getting old. I came home from a night out very disgruntled and a little unhappy.

Now before you jump up and down, saying "No, no, of course you're not getting old", just hear me out, because it's amazing what a nights sleep can do for your vision on the world.

I don't feel like getting old is a bad thing. Yes I'm a little sad that I'm no longer with the hip and beautiful ones out partying at the weekend, but to be honest I was never confident enough to be out in the group of young pretty things that party all weekend.

Yes I'm a little sad that I'm no longer considered of an age to wear short skirts and high heels, but to be honest, I've never felt the need to dress that way, I like to feel comfortable and confident not worried that my skirt needs pulling down to cover my bum or I might fall off my heels.

Yes I'm a little sad that a rip roaring Saturday Night in the Grace household is a few quiet beers with our friends and that 9 times out of 10 I end up as the token female in a group of males. But to be honest, they're the people that make me laugh and teach me not to take myself to seriously.

So you see, me realising I'm getting old and then looking at what my life is full of  a husband who adores me, children and grandchildren, a business that makes me excited to face the day, and of course great friends, me getting old means I appreciate and attract more of the wonderful things that make my life unique, fun and happy. So I'll take getting old over being shiny, young and unsure of your place in the world anyday...how about you?
