I woke up yesterday morning, the first morning of my weekend with no plans. What to do first...read..knit...study...sort...so much to choose from but all solo activities. Two hours later after a text from my best friend and a text from my daughter I headed into the city. I haven't seen my friend in months so we grabbed a glass of vino and sat in the sunshine on one of my favourite streets in the city, we chatted, relaxed and enjoyed. My daughter text to ask me to meet her and my eldest Grandson, who is a giggly 2 and a half and full of joy. We met them, picked him up some lunch and settled back in the sunshine with vino and fizzy pop. The joy of having my grandson on my knee, the cuddles, kisses and giggles mixed with the conversation of friends and family made it a near perfect afternoon, and none of it done alone. Sometimes we think that afree day will give us pleasure if we fill it with solitary pursuits, but maybe, just maybe once in a while we can rediscover the joy of company and just breathe and relax in the company of those we love. I love being me, I am soooo lucky |
